Kazakhstan is ready to increase grain and beef exports to Turkey
Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Turkish Minister Ibrahim Yumakli discussed increasing supplies of Kazakh grain and beef to Turkey at the Belt and Road Conference in Shanghai. The parties are seeking to deepen cooperation to diversify markets.
In the 2024/2025 season, Kazakhstan exported 12.4 million tons of grain and flour, which is 34% more than last year, thanks to a harvest of 26.5 million tons. At the same time, Turkey imports 7-7.5 million tons of wheat annually. Supplies of Kazakh grain to Turkey may increase to 1 million tons after phytosanitary inspections are completed.
Kazakhstan is also expanding grain exports to Europe, China (1.43 million tons), Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Turkey, a major supplier to the global flour and pasta market, is interested in quality wheat at competitive prices. In 2025, exports may increase due to stable logistics routes through the Caspian Sea.
Regarding beef, Kazakhstan plans to supply Turkey with 10,000 tons annually. In 2024, beef exports amounted to 15.8 thousand tons, and contracts with Turkey for $ 80 million were signed in Ankara.
