Kazakhstan Food Corporation doubles forward purchase volumes of oilseeds

The Food Corporation has increased the volume of forward purchases of oilseeds from agricultural producers as part of the implementation of the state policy on diversification of crop areas.

According to the press service of the Food Corporation, at present, contracts have been concluded with farmers for the supply of 36 thousand tons of sunflower, flaxseed and rapeseed on a prepayment basis, which is twice the volume of 2024.

Support for farmers not only contributes to the increase in the production of oilseeds, but also stimulates the growth of domestic processing and the development of the oil and fat industry as a whole, the company notes.

It is reported that last year the Food Corporation successfully implemented a pilot project for forward financing of the purchase of sunflower and sunflower oil, aimed at supporting agricultural producers and processors. As a result of trilateral cooperation, 83.2 thousand liters of sunflower oil were produced and sold to social and entrepreneurial corporations at a fixed price.

Considering the demand for the forward financing program, in 2025 the state operator expanded the support limits for farmers willing to increase the area under sunflower and other highly profitable crops.

According to the results of the spring sowing, oilseed crops occupy 3.4 million hectares (0.5 million hectares more than last year). In the coming years, this figure may grow to 4 million hectares. Earlier, representatives of the department reported that for the first time in the country, the sunflower area will reach a record 1.4 million hectares, which is 121 thousand hectares more than last year.
