Kazakhstan exported 2.5 mln tons of grain to Central Asian countries

Grain exports to China for eight months of 2024 amounted to 1.1 million tons

For eight months there is an active dynamics of growth of grain exports to Central Asian countries – 2.5 million tons (1.8 million tons sent to Uzbekistan, 600 thousand tons – to Tajikistan, 100 thousand tons – to Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan), said Managing Director of JSC NC KTZh Bauyrzhan Urynbasarov at a meeting of the operational headquarters for autumn field work in the government.

For 12 days of September to the countries of Central Asia shipped 132 thousand tons – this is 2.5 times more than in September 2023. By the end of the month, the volume of grain shipments will be about 250 thousand tons,” – said the managing director of KTZh.

According to him, grain exports to China for the first eight months of 2024 amounted to 1.1 million tons. The main volume is exported in containers – 666.4 thousand tons. This year, the volume of transportation in covered wagons, where grain is packed in bags, has doubled to 229 thousand tons. The volume of transportation in grain cars remained almost at the level of last year – 247.5 thousand tons (96% of last year).

Supplies of grain milling products to China increased by 70% – 494.1 thousand tons in 8 months of 2024 (290.3 thousand tons in 2023). Transportation is carried out mainly in containers.

KTZ expects mass grain shipments from September 20, about 12 thousand grain carriers are ready for this purpose in the country. As noted Urynbasarov, of the total number of cars about 6 thousand are ready to provide transportation of grain for export in the direction of ports of the Black and Baltic seas.

As of September 16, Kazakhstan harvested 7.4 thousand hectares (44%), the average yield is 14.6 centners per hectare, threshed 10.8 million tons of grain. Elevators received 1.5 million tons of grain.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC “Prodkorporatsiya” Asylkhan Djuvashev informed that for August-September it was planned to take out 1.5 million tons of grain of the last harvest from the elevators to receive the new one, of which 736 thousand tons were sent. Prodkorporatsiya’s own stocks are more than 300 thousand tons, private owners’ volumes are more than 734 thousand tons.
