Indonesia’s soybean meal imports to remain at 5.5 mln tons in 2024/25
Lower prices and robust demand from the poultry industry are supporting purchase volumes, with South American suppliers accounting for over 95%.
USDA FAS estimates that Indonesia’s soybean meal imports in 2024/25 will be 5.5 million tonnes. The figures were driven by a 23% decline in average prices and a 28% increase in South American supplies from October 2024 to May 2025 compared to the same period a year earlier.
The forecast for 2025/26 assumes that import volumes will remain unchanged at 5.5 million tonnes. South American suppliers, thanks to competitive prices, will maintain their dominant position in the market with a share of over 95%.
As a key raw material for the production of industrial compound feed, soybean meal is supplied to Indonesia duty-free from all countries, which provides a price advantage and maintains stable purchase volumes.
