Indonesia will stop importing feed corn in 2025

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, announced that Indonesia will no longer import corn for feed in 2025. He emphasized that the crop harvested by local farmers will fully meet national demand.
Indonesia is projected to produce about 16.7 million tons of corn, exceeding domestic demand of 13 million tons. Exporting is the next strategic step in the face of surplus production, he said.
“This surplus not only shows the success of government programs in the agricultural sector, but also opens opportunities for local farmers to compete in the international market,” he said.
