The Indonesian government has allocated $312 million to purchase 1 million tons of corn from local farmers in 2025. The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the new pricing policy, according to which the purchase price has been increased from $0.31 to $0.34 per kilogram at the producer level.
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman noted that in the first quarter of 2025, the volume of national corn production increased by 39.02%. According to Statistics Indonesia, the agricultural sector became the fastest growing in the country’s economy, showing an increase of 10.52%.
“This is the highest increase in history. We should be grateful for such results,” Sulaiman emphasized.
The program is aimed at stabilizing prices, ensuring crop marketing and strengthening food security amid growing demand in the domestic market.
