Indonesia plans to produce 18 mln tons of corn in 2026 to ensure feed security
Increased gross harvest will allow the country to transition away from imports and strengthen its livestock sector.
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture intends to increase dry corn cob production to 18 million tons in 2026, strengthening the feed industry’s raw material base and advancing its commitment to corn self-sufficiency. This was announced by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.
He stated that increasing production volumes will ensure a stable supply of domestic demand from the feed industry and expand the use of corn in processing and other industrial sectors.
According to the forecast by Badan Pusat Statistik (Statistics Indonesia), corn production could reach 4.94 million tons in January–March 2026, 4.18% higher than the same period last year. Taking into account carryover stocks of approximately 4.5 million tons, the government expects to fully meet domestic needs without imports.
The high availability of feed corn creates the foundation for further growth in poultry and livestock production. At the same time, the introduction of modern processing technologies opens up additional opportunities for diversifying product use, increasing added value for farmers, and strengthening national food security.
