India sees significant decline in sugar production

According to a Centrum report, India’s sugar industry is witnessing a significant decline in production in the current 2025 sugar season, with total production expected to fall below 27 million tonnes, a sharp decline from 31.8 million tonnes last year.
As of February 15, 2025, sugar production stood at 19.77 million tonnes, reflecting a 12% decline compared to the same period in the previous season. This decline is mainly due to more sugar being diverted to ethanol production, reduced cane availability and lower sugar yields.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
