Hungary has not lifted restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine, transit is subject to strict deadlines

Hungary, without implementing the European Commission’s decision, allowed only the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through its territory. The main problem is the tight deadline for transit transportation by rail. This was announced by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Department of UZ, on his Facebook page.
The deadline is 7 days, and if it is exceeded, carriers have to pay a fine of 100% of the cost of transit grain. This rule discourages transit operators from working through Hungary (especially when it comes to transshipment of grain through the broken transit).
According to Valeriy Tkachov, Hungarian carriers RCH and MMV have provided instructions on how to process transit cargo. At present, 536 railcars with grain, 223 railcars with oil and 59 with oilcake are waiting at the Batyovo-Epereshky border with Hungary.
“The MMV carrier is not accepting 223 wagons with edible oil, it is waiting for 1435 mm wagons to be available on its territory for reloading + guarantees from the reloading terminals that they will have time to transit the edible oil in 7 days (availability of 1435 mm terns; guarantees of acceptance by the neighboring railroad),” he said.
