Ukraine is approaching the spring sowing campaign with oilseed crops remaining one of the most attractive segments for farmers. According to UkrAgroConsult, planting decisions in the 2026/27 season are increasingly determined by expected margins and processing demand.

Sunflower continues to dominate farmers’ attention due to strong prices following the tight supply season. At the beginning of 2026 domestic sunflower prices approached about 30000 UAH per ton, keeping the crop among the most profitable options for Ukrainian producers.

The outlook for the new season suggests a gradual recovery of production as weather conditions improved soil moisture levels during winter. Planting areas for sunflower may expand to around 6.1 million hectares.

Soybean and rapeseed markets also remain relatively stable. Processing capacity utilisation is expected to increase as domestic crushing becomes more attractive and strengthens Ukraine’s role in the regional oilseed industry.

Price dynamics for sunflower seed reflect strong quotations observed during the marketing year. Balance calculations for sunflower, soybean and rapeseed summarise expected production, processing and export flows. Comparative data on harvested area, yields and supply structure illustrate the shift of the Ukrainian oilseed sector toward increased domestic processing.

Analysts at UkrAgroConsult emphasize that the structural trend for the oilseed sector remains unchanged: larger seed harvests stimulate crushing growth and increase exports of vegetable oil and meal.

Key trends

  • Oilseed crops remain one of the most profitable segments for Ukrainian farmers
  • Sunflower continues to dominate planting decisions due to strong prices
  • Processing capacity utilisation in Ukraine is expected to increase
  • Soybean and rapeseed markets maintain relatively balanced supply and demand
  • Exports of processed products continue to grow faster than raw seed shipments
