Grain reserves in Kazakhstan exceed 17 mln tons

As of February 1, 2026, grain and pulses reserves in Kazakhstan totaled 17,112,000 tons, including over 13.9 million tons of wheat, according to the Bureau of National Statistics.

Of the total grain reserves, food reserves amounted to 14 million tons, seeds to 1.3 million tons, and feed to over 1.7 million tons.

There were over 12 million tons of food wheat in storage, over 1 million tons in the seed fund, and over 687,600 tons of feed.

According to the statistics agency, agricultural producers held over 7,364,000 tons of grain in storage facilities, elevators held 4.3 million tons, farms held 3.4 million tons, wholesalers held over 196,500 tons, organic chemical producers held over 23,600 tons, and feed producers held over 177,000 tons. Flour mills held over 1,323,000 tons, and other legal entities held over 294,000 tons.

Barley stocks at the beginning of the month totaled over 1,863,000 tons: 870,000 tons of food grade barley, 168,000 tons of seed barley, and 824,700 tons of feed barley.

Furthermore, corn reserves in Kazakhstan amounted to 138.5 thousand tons, rice – 222.6 thousand tons, rye – 15 thousand tons, oats – 198 thousand tons, and buckwheat – 70.6 thousand tons.

As a reminder, in 2025, Kazakhstan harvested a high grain harvest of 27.1 million tons, with the average yield this year reaching 17 centners per hectare (compared to 16.2 centners per hectare in 2024). Of this, 20.3 million tons of wheat were harvested, with a yield of 16.6 centners per hectare. This is 0.5 million more than the previous year’s level, although wheat plantings decreased by almost 900 thousand hectares as part of crop diversification.
