On July 1, Grain Craft, the third-largest flour producer in the U.S., officially completed the acquisition of Bunge Global SA’s dry corn milling assets. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the agreement, Grain Craft acquired:

  • Three dry corn milling plants in Nebraska (Crete), Kansas (Atchison), and Illinois (Danville);

  • Three dry masa production facilities in Texas (Muleshoe), Iowa (Red Oak), and Indiana (Worthington);

  • A logistics and packaging center in Querétaro, Mexico.

The new business will maintain its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, and approximately 600 employees will join the division.

“This is a transformational deal for our company,” said Grain Craft President and CEO Pete Frederick. “It expands our presence in an adjacent food ingredient category and enhances our ability to serve customers across diverse sectors of the food industry.”

Bunge Exits U.S. Corn Business After 45 Years

The deal marks the end of Bunge’s 45-year history in the U.S. corn milling sector, which began in 1979 with the acquisition of Lauhoff Grain Co. — making Bunge the world’s largest dry corn miller at the time.

Today, Bunge — a global leader in the oilseed sector — is refocusing on its core business and strengthening its position following a major merger with Viterra.
