Germany increases exports of rapeseed and soybean meal
Germany in the period from July to November 2023 exported about 783 thousand tons of rapeseed meal, which is 30% higher than in the same period of the previous agricultural year (603 thousand tons). Such data were published by analysts of the national association UFOP (Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants).
According to their estimates, the German product is mainly exported to other EU countries. The key importer, as well as a year earlier, was the Netherlands, where shipments increased by 32% – up to 334 thousand tons. Shipments to Denmark also increased by 8% – from 85 thousand tons to 92 thousand tons. Finland increased its purchases by 46% to 79 thousand tons. Sweden (49 thousand tons), Spain (47 thousand tons) and Ireland (42 thousand tons) are also among the key buyers.
In addition, from July to November 2023/24 MY, Germany increased soybean meal shipments – from 686 thousand tons a year earlier to 738 thousand tons. The largest importer of the product is Denmark, with shipments in this direction dropped by about 5% to 164 thousand tons.
The second position is occupied by the Czech Republic, where the demand for German soybean meal slightly increased – up to 131 thousand tons (+3%). Supplies to Austria dropped by 8% – to 58 thousand tons. Lithuania increased imports 8 times at once – up to 56 thousand tons. Turkey, which did not buy soybean meal from Germany a year earlier, purchased 37 thousand tons of this product at once. In Poland, which is also one of the major buyers, demand decreased by almost 20% to 36 thousand tons.
