Geography of egg exports from Ukraine increased by 10 countries over the year
Ukraine was able to increase sales of shell eggs to foreign markets to $60.8m by the end of 2023, which is 45% more than in the previous year.
The quantitative indicators of their exports also increased – 48.8 thousand tons (+81%), according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Export Association.
The largest purchases of eggs from Ukraine last year were made by such countries: the Netherlands – 9.3 thousand tons, Poland – 8.0 thousand tons, Singapore – 7.5 thousand tons, Latvia – 5.6 thousand tons, Israel – 4.7 thousand tons, Bulgaria – 2.5 thousand tons, United Arab Emirates – 1.8 thousand tons, Italy – 1.7 thousand tons, Czech Republic – 1.3 thousand tons, Greece – 1.1 thousand tons.
“The key regional sales market for egg producers was the European Union, which brought 63% of total revenues,” experts specify.
There was also an expansion of the geographical structure of exports – in 2023, overseas sales included 31 countries, while in 2022, deliveries were only to 21 countries. Last year, mainly European and African countries were added to the list of egg markets, including France, Sweden, the UK, Croatia, Belgium, Austria, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau.
However, a negative fact was a further decline in the export price of eggs from Ukraine, which were sold at an average of $1246/t, or $32396/container of 26 tons, the association adds.
