France raises estimates of sugar beet production

On Tuesday, the French Ministry of Agriculture raised its forecast for sugar beet production for the second month in a row.
For sugar beet, the harvest of which is also in full swing, the ministry recorded production at 31.29 million tons against 31.21 million tons estimated last month. This is now only 0.7% less than last year’s volume, but still 7.9% less than the five-year average, as this year’s high yields do not compensate for the reduction in acreage.
The Ministry noted that the first results of the beet harvest showed low sugar content.
