For which Ukrainian agricultural products did the EU increase quotas?
Ukraine and the EU have renewed the Free Trade Agreement, which allows maintaining the trade volumes achieved during the period of autonomous trade preferences. In the 4 weeks since the start of the transitional measures, the parties have worked out in detail the terms of trade for all agricultural goods and have achieved good results.
This was reported on his Facebook page by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.
According to him, out of 40 quotas, 5 have been liberalized in general, individual goods have been liberalized in 4 quotas, and 4 quotas have been rearranged.
In particular, the size of the quotas for honey has been increased by 583.3% from 2021, for sugar – by 500%, for processed starch – by 500%.
The quotas for barley groats and groats have also been revised upwards; cereals, otherwise processed – by 435.8%; bran, husks and residues – by 386%; milk powder – by 308%, eggs – by 300%, malt – by 250%, processed tomatoes – by 250%, processed sugar products – by 250%, starches – by 244%, butter – by 233.3%, oats – by 192.5%, corn – by 153%.
The agreements provide for an increase in quotas for: milk, cream, condensed milk – by 150%; garlic – by 150%; other sugars – 150%, apple juice – 150%, processed butter products – 150%, sweet corn – 150%, mannitol-sorbitol – 150%, processed grain products – 150%, sugar syrups – 135%, poultry meat – 133.3%, wheat – 130%, ethanol – 125%, barley – 122.2%.
“In relation to real trade volumes, 21 out of 34 quotas have a volume greater than the maximum during the period of the preferences and in 3 more quotas the volume is greater than the export in 2024. 6 quotas in which the volume is less than the level of 2024, but the terms of trade allow maintaining export volumes. Only for 3 goods the volumes are less than during the period of the preferences, but we have minimized the damage. “The next review towards further liberalization will be in 2028,” Taras Kachka noted.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv.
