Kazakhstan’s national company, Food Corporation, the country’s main grain operator, has reported record results for the 2024–2025 marketing year. The company sold a total of 1.3 million tons of grain, four times higher than the previous season and the highest volume achieved in the past ten years.

The increase in export volumes was driven by the expansion of supply geography and the use of new logistics routes. Grain was delivered both directly to foreign partners and through traders, including under the program for consolidating export batches of agricultural products, which simplifies farmers’ access to international markets.

At the same time, the national operator prioritized domestic food security. Grain supplies were primarily directed to flour mills, livestock and poultry farms, and processing plants across the country. Food Corporation accounted for 8.9% of Kazakhstan’s total grain exports, confirming its status as a strategic national supplier.

During the season, grain was exported to 12 countries, with traditional markets including Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and China. The main export product remained food-grade wheat of Class 3. New export directions were also developed, with over 143,000 tons sent to Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, and Vietnam, and 62,000 tons to Iran, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, restoring Kazakhstan’s presence in these markets.

A major achievement was mastering complex multimodal routes: shipments to Morocco and Vietnam used container transport by rail to seaports with subsequent transshipment to vessels. Government subsidies for transport costs further boosted export profitability and helped maintain domestic grain prices. The export batch consolidation program also allows farmers and processors to sign direct contracts with major foreign buyers, with all export revenue going directly to farmers and small traders.
