Exports to Algeria and the Middle East contributed to an increase in prices for Ukrainian barley
As of November 10, Ukrainian barley exports amounted to almost 75 thousand tons. Grain prices are growing. This was reported by the analytical department of the agricultural cooperative PUSK, established within the VAR.
“Barley is showing positive dynamics — prices increased by $2–4 per week, or about UAH 100–150 per ton. On average, the conditional price for barley on the domestic market is about UAH 10,600/ton. The market was supported by point export sales, in particular to the Middle East and Algeria,” analysts note. At the same time, experts believe that the current growth may be short-term.
“Traders are now looking for supplies until November 15–20 at the most. After that, demand may disappear. That is, the $5–7 that the price per ton gained can disappear just as quickly. The market is currently locally overheated, and barley remains a relatively expensive feed grain,” the PUSK believes.
Despite this, a slight increase is still possible in the coming days.
“By the end of this week or at the beginning of next week, we may see further growth. Barley will probably add $1–2 per ton, and accordingly may reach the conditional level of 10,800 UAH/t on the domestic market,” the analysts conclude.
