Exports of edible oil products from Kazakhstan may exceed $1 billion in 2025/26 MY
The area under oilseed crops in Kazakhstan continues to grow, and with it the production capabilities of processing enterprises. In the next three years, oilseed crops may expand by another 1–1.5 million hectares, which will allow increasing the output of oilseed products by approximately 650 thousand tons. Given the limited domestic demand, the key strategic direction for the development of the industry remains export, for which Kazakhstan needs new sales markets and effective logistics corridors.
The head of the National Association of Oilseed Processors Yadykar Ibragimov spoke about the main challenges and achievements in logistics in an interview with the ElDala.kz portal. According to him, in the last marketing year (September 2024 – August 2025), Kazakh oilseed products were supplied to more than 20 countries. Among the key export destinations are China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and a number of European countries.
According to the results of the season, Kazakhstan supplied more than 1.3 million tons of oil products — oils, meals and cake — for a total amount of $837 million. The main export items remain sunflower oil and sunflower meal. In the current marketing year, an increase in supply volumes to more than 1.6 million tons is expected due to the expansion of sown areas and high yields.
Thus, in the 2025/26 season, exports of oil products from Kazakhstan may exceed $1 billion for the first time. This will be an important milestone for the country’s agro-industrial complex, which at the same time sets a goal to enter the TOP-3 world exporters of sunflower oil.
