Export of sunflower oil from Ukraine in February 2024 amounted to 603 thsd tonnes
In February, Ukrainian exports of sunflower oil crossed the 600 thsd ton mark again (for the third month in a row).
According to the preliminary customs statistics, in February 2024, Ukraine exported 603 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil, almost unchanged compared to the previous month, but 50% more than in February 2023.
In total, Ukrainian companies exported 3.2 mln tonnes of sunflower oil in the first half of 2023/24 season, compared to 2.7 mln tonnes a year ago. It is worth reminding that in the calendar year 2023, the Ukrainian exports of sunflower oil amounted to 5.7 mln tonnes for $5 bln (in 2022 – 4.3 mln tonnes for $5.5 bln).
Regarding the structure of oil exporters from Ukraine, we note a significant increase in supplies in the current season by Bunge Ukraine (before the full-scale invasion, this group was a stable number two on the Ukrainian market, for example, its share among processors in the 2020/21 season was 11%, after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the group significantly reduced production). Kernel remains the undisputed market leader among sunflower crushers and oil producers and exporters.
