Experts adjusted estimates of oilseed yields in the EU
According to the MARS agency, the yields of a number of oilseeds in the European Union have been reduced due to heavy precipitation, which negatively affected the development of crops. Farmers in the north of Italy, Croatia and Slovenia felt the effects of rains and hail the most strongly.
At the same time, in Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, harvest prospects have deteriorated due to dry and very hot weather conditions.
According to industry experts, the forecast for soybean yields in the EU has been lowered from 2.86 t/ha to 2.82 t/ha in July, and for rapeseed from 3.20 t/ha to 3.19 t/ha.
As for sunseed, the yield estimate for this crop, on the contrary, increased by almost 3% to 2.18 t/ha.
“The forecast was revised upward, mainly due to better than expected weather conditions in Spain and France, which offset the decline in yields in Bulgaria,” MARS said.
