Every fifth Ukrainian works in the agricultural sector
Every fifth Ukrainian works in agriculture, the industry provides about 17% of Ukraine’s GDP and almost half of foreign exchange earnings from exports of goods.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev, the press service of the ministry reports.
He noted that 2025 was an extremely difficult year for the agricultural sector, but it continues to make a significant contribution to the economy.
“The sector continues to remain one of the key drivers of the economy: it generates about 17% of GDP, generates almost half of foreign exchange earnings and stably ensures the presence of Ukrainian products on world markets. This indicates the extraordinary resilience and professionalism of our producers,” Sobolev noted.
He added that at the same time, about 200 thousand representatives of agriculture serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
