European Commission has lowered the forecasts of rapeseed and corn harvest for the EU
The European Commission experts lowered the forecast of rapeseed production in 2024/25 MY by 0.3 mln tons to 19.1 mln tons (19.7 mln tons in 2023/24 MY), and corn production by 0.6 mln tons to 68.6 mln tons, which is 9% higher than last year’s figure, and 3% higher than the 5-year average. At the same time, imports are expected to decrease from 20 to 17.4 mln tons compared to the current season.
The forecast of soft wheat harvest in the EU in 2024/25 MY was left at 120.2 mln tons, which will be 4% lower than last year’s figure and 5% lower than the 5-year average. The export forecast was left at 31.1 mln tons compared to 33 mln tons in 2023/24 MY.
The forecast of barley harvest was also left unchanged at 7.1 mln tons, which is 21% higher than last year, but 2% lower than the 5-year average. Barley exports may reach 10.3 million tons.
It is expected that the sunseed harvest in the EU in 2024/25 MY will amount to 10.6 mln tons, which is only 0.1 mln tons less than in 2023/24 MY.
