EU vegetable oil imports lower than last year

Soybean imports into the European Union in the 2024/25 season, which began in July, reached 2.62 million tons by September 15, up from 2.61 million tons a year earlier, according to data released by the European Commission.
EU rapeseed imports in the same period rose 37% to 1.05 million tons from 0.77 million tons a year earlier.
Sunseed imports rose 71% to 85.9 thousand tons from 50.3 thousand tons, up 71%.
At the same time, imports of edible oils to the Union declined.
Soybean oil imports fell 69% to 58.4 thousand tons against 190.3 thousand tons by the same date last year.
Sunflower oil was imported 37% less – 339.2 thousand tons, against 539.9 thousand tons.
Rapeseed oil was imported 56% less – 54.7 thousand tons against 123.8 thousand tons.
Palm oil imports also decreased by 38% to 539.6 thousand tons against 879.3 thousand tons.
