EU soft wheat exports fall by 58% in 2025/26

As of August 3, soft wheat exports from the EU in the 2025-2026 season amounted to 1.11 million tons. The figure fell by 58% compared to the same period last year. Barley exports amounted to 950.17 thousand tons (-13% year-on-year), according to European Commission data.
Corn exports fell by 67% to 36.86 thousand tons.
The absolute leader in soft wheat exports is Romania with 740.14 thousand tons. Germany is in second place with 126.23 thousand tons. Next come Bulgaria (95.7 thousand tons), Poland (82.4 thousand tons), Lithuania (slightly more than 39 thousand tons). France did not export wheat, according to EC data.
Data on grain exports from France are incomplete from the beginning of the 2024 calendar year, for Bulgaria and Ireland – from the beginning of the 2023-2024 marketing year, as specified in the EU materials.
The list of the main buyers of wheat from the EU at the beginning of the marketing year included Saudi Arabia (137 thousand tons), Nigeria (128.84 thousand tons), Algeria (93.8 thousand tons), Great Britain (79.6 thousand tons) and Vietnam (61 thousand tons).
From July 1 to August 3, Ukraine supplied 222.4 thousand tons of corn, 50.42 thousand tons of soft wheat, 3.1 thousand tons of durum to the European Union.
