EU soft wheat exports fall by 48%

As of August 26, soft wheat exports from the EU in the 2025-2026 season reached 2.18 million tons. The figure is 48% lower than in the same period last year. Barley exports amounted to 1.4 million tons (+14% year-on-year), according to European Commission data.
The absolute leader in soft wheat exports is Romania with 1.26 million tons. Germany is in second place with 270.3 thousand tons. They are followed by Lithuania (195.6 thousand tons), Bulgaria (183.2 thousand tons) and Poland (164.14 thousand tons).
Ukraine supplied 575.8 thousand tons of corn, 280.3 thousand tons of soft wheat, and 170 tons of oats to the bloc countries.
The list of the main buyers of soft wheat from the EU included Saudi Arabia (254.5 thousand tons), Morocco (194.65 thousand tons), Nigeria (128.84 thousand tons), Great Britain (124.15 thousand tons) and Jordan (117.25 thousand tons).
Data on grain exports from France are incomplete from the beginning of the 2024 calendar year, there is no data for the 2025-2026 marketing year. Data for Bulgaria and Ireland are incomplete from the beginning of the 2023-2024 marketing year, as specified in the EU materials.
