EU soft wheat exports down 35% since start of season to 16.67 mln tons

Exports of soft wheat from the EU in the 2024/25 season, which started in July, reached 16.67 mln tons as of April 13. The figure is 35% lower than in the same period in 2024. Barley exports amounted to 4.05 mln tons (-19% year-on-year), according to data from the European Commission.
Romania remains the leader in terms of export volumes – 4.63 mln tons. Lithuania – 2.28 mln tons, Germany – 2.05 mln tons, Latvia – 1.93 mln tons, France – 1.89 mln tons, Bulgaria – 1.67 mln tons.
The list of the main buyers of wheat from the EU includes Nigeria (2.32 mln tons), Morocco (2.25 mln tons), Algeria (1.36 mln tons), Great Britain (1.1 mln tons) and Egypt (935,530 tons).
Italian grain export data for the last four months are incomplete. There are gaps in the data set for France from the beginning of the 2024 calendar year, and for Bulgaria and Ireland from the beginning of the MY 2023/24 the EU materials specify.
