In 2024, Ukraine exported 14.06 mln tons of corn to the European Union. This is 1.2 mln tons less than in 2023. This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine.

“But the EU is still our key corn market – 49.2% of all our exports go there. The same goes for wheat. We exported 7.3 million tons in 2024, 0.9 million less. But this is still 34% of our total wheat exports and many times more than we exported before the war (+- 1 million tons),” he said.

Also, due to the restrictions, Ukraine sold 51% less sugar to the EU than in 2023 – $195 million less. At the same time, the overall export of Ukrainian sugar increased by 45% and reached 749 thousand tons, of which only 303 thousand tons went to the EU.

“The most illustrative figure is the reduction in sunflower seed exports by 76%. Last year, we exported only 181 thousand tons of sunflower seeds to the EU. But the export of sunflower oil grew by 13%. And with a value of $2.87 billion, this product is No. 1 in our exports to the EU. At the same time, the EU accounted for 59% of our total exports of sunflower oil,” added Kachka.
