EU raised wheat and corn harvest estimates
The European Commission has raised its forecast for the European Union’s wheat harvest in the 2025/2026 season from 133.4 million to 134.2 million tonnes, and for corn, from 56.8 million to 57.6 million tonnes, according to the Zerno On-Line agency. The estimate for the gross barley harvest has been lowered from 55.9 million to 55.6 million tonnes. Total grain production is estimated at 286.9 million tonnes.
Last season, EU countries harvested 253.9 million tonnes of grain, including 110.9 million tonnes of wheat, 48.7 million tonnes of barley, and 59.2 million tonnes of corn.
The European Commission estimates the current season’s grain export potential at 45.4 million tonnes (38.9 million tonnes last season), including 10.5 million tonnes of wheat, 10.5 million tonnes of barley, and 10.5 million tonnes of corn. wheat – 31.0 (25.5) million tons, barley – 10.1 (9.3) million tons, corn – 3.0 (3.0) million tons.
Grain imports may amount to 26.4 (31.7) million tons, incl. wheat – 3.5 (8.0) million tons, barley – 1.5 (1.3) million tons, corn – 18.0 (20.0) million tons.
