EU oilseed imports in MY 2024/25 higher than last year

According to the European Commission, total EU imports of oilseeds in 2024/2025 are higher than last year, but imports of vegetable oils are lagging behind the same period last year.

As of November 10, rapeseed imports into the 27 EU countries in 2024/2025 (starting July 1) totaled about 222,000 tons, up 15% year-on-year and 8% higher than last week.

Rapeseed oil imports totaled 100 thousand tons, down 50% year-over-year and 55% from last week.

The volume of imports of soybeans in the 27 EU countries in 2024/2025 (starting July 1) amounted to about 4.43 million tons, which is 7% more than in the same period of 2023/2024 and 2% more year-on-year.

Earlier it became known that in the current period the EU imported the maximum amount of beans since 2021/22. The main importer of soybeans in the EU was Brazil.

The volume of imports of soybean meal amounted to about 6.53 million tons, which is 18% more in annual terms and 10% more last week.
