EU increased oilseed processing volumes in 2023
The European Association of Vegetable Oil Producers (FEDIOL) estimates that in December 2023, the EU oil extraction plants processed more than 3.57 mln tonnes of oilseeds (+0.295 mln tonnes compared to the previous month). In general, at the end of last year, this figure increased to almost 38.9 mln tonnes against 36.855 mln tonnes in 2022.

As for rapeseed, local enterprises processed 1.758 million tons of this crop in December (+1.15% compared to November) and 19.414 million tons for the whole year (+8.4% by 2022).
The volumes of soybean processing increased last month – by about 20% compared to November, to 1.138 mln tonnes. But for the year, there was a 5% decline to 13.249 mln tons.
Sunseed production has been increasing from month to month. In December 2023, 680 thsd tonnes of seeds were delivered to the mills for further processing, which is 13% more than in November. Since the beginning of the year, the figures have also increased by 22% to over 6.2 mln tons.
