Ermewa delivers 200 new wagons for grain export from Ukraine
French railcar leasing company Ermewa will deliver a total of 200 newly built grain wagons for he transport of grain to Rail Cargo Logistics (Rail Cargo Group). The first batch of 25 grain wagons was handed over already at the end of October, with 175 more coming by the end of 2023.
The new wagons will be Tagnpps models, a type of wagon specifically designed for the transportation of agricultural products, especially cereals. Their maximum loading volume is 95 cubic metres, with a loading capacity of 69,7 tonnes. All wagons will be equipped with GPS devices and will be suitable for Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC).
The wagons present some innovative features as well. The roof and the hatches were optimised to ensure better preservation of the products. Moreover, these Ermewa wagons will be thicker and, therefore, safer. Safety was also enhanced by the implementation of an ergonomic roof opening system located at ground level. This means that climbing on the roof will not be necessary anymore, reducing the risks of electrocution or fall.
Ermewa: not only grain wagons
Ermewa has already provided the rail freight market with 530 newly built intermodal wagons in the third quarter of 2022. This number is going to increase by the end of the year, as the company stated, reaching 780 new wagons. Moreover, the company claimed that 1,000 more new wagons will be coming by the end of 2023.
The 780 wagons batch consists of four different wagon types, namely Sgmmnss 40′, Sgnss 60′, Sggrss 80′ and Sggmrss 90’-foot wagons. All these new railcars will be equipped with future-proof technology such as a GPS device and pre-equipment to Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC). The 780 wagons will be leased to companies throughout Europe.
