Egypt: Mostakbal Misr has supplied 1.1 mln tons of wheat to GASC since December 2024

The state agency Mostakbal Misr has supplied 1.1 mln tons of wheat to GASC since December 2024, most of which came from Russian private sellers, and the rest was purchased from Egyptian traders and intermediaries. However, the GASC did not say when the 1.1 mln tons of wheat arrived in Egypt.
Egypt is one of the largest buyers of wheat in the world, and government purchases are closely monitored by the market. Mostakbal Misr replaced GASC as the buyer at the end of 2024. But the absence of known tenders since then and uncertainty about private purchases have made it difficult to assess flows, especially from key Black Sea suppliers.
According to Bloomberg, Egypt plans to import 5-6 mln tonnes of wheat for its subsidized bread program in 2024/25 season, with total wheat imports expected to reach 12.5 mln tonnes.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
