Corn production in Bangladesh will reach 5.7 mln tons in MY 2024/25
Corn prices in Bangladesh remain high from June 2024 as the feed industry relies on domestic corn. USDA forecasts domestic corn production to reach 5.7 million tons in MY 2024/25.
At the same time, corn imports will rise to 600,000 tons from 576,000 tons in MY 2023/24. USDA notes that this figure is significantly lower than in previous years due to higher domestic production, challenges faced by small importers in opening letters of credit, higher world prices, and a lower export surplus of corn in India. Imports are likely to come from Brazil and India will be left out.
