Corn became Ukraine’s most exported commodity this year

The most exported product from Ukraine in January-February of this year was corn. This is stated in the report of the State Customs Service.
“Since the beginning of the year, 4.7 million tons of this cereal crop, worth $982 million, have been exported from Ukraine. It has become a key export product, accounting for 26.5% of agricultural exports and 16% of Ukraine’s exports in general,” the report said.
The largest exports were to Spain – 933 thousand tons, Italy – 725 thousand tons, Turkey – 639 thousand tons, Egypt – 593 thousand tons and the Netherlands – 514 thousand tons.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that Ukraine and Turkey signed a Protocol on expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector. Among the main agreements is the expansion of the volume of purchases of Ukrainian products, in particular corn and oil. In turn, Turkey is interested in supplying tractors and other agricultural machinery to Ukraine.
Earlier, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky stated that the Ukrainian agricultural sector is 60-70% export-oriented and at the same time export-dependent, and world consumption thus depends on it.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
