Construction of an intermodal terminal in the port of Gdynia has begun in Poland

The construction of a modern intermodal terminal has begun on the territory of the logistics center of the Polish port of Gdynia. The investment amounts to PLN 75 million (≈ $20 million), of which PLN 35 million is co-financed by the European Union. This is reported by local media.
The scope of work includes the construction of 2.73 km of railway tracks, 30,000 m² of maneuvering areas and a stationary ramp for transshipment. The terminal is being built as a dual-purpose facility – for handling both commercial cargo and military equipment.
It is noted that the terminal will strengthen the infrastructure that is of strategic importance for the security of Poland and NATO’s eastern flank. In addition, the project will ensure efficient transshipment of containers between sea, rail and road transport. NDI is responsible for the project.
“By building an intermodal terminal, we are investing not only in logistics, but also in security. This infrastructure strengthens the strategic importance of Gdynia on the map of Europe. The terminal will strengthen the resilience of the infrastructure of Poland and the entire region,” said Piotr Gożenski, President of the Board of Morski Port Gdynia SA.
The construction of the terminal will last until the second half of 2026.
