China will raise import duties on US goods to 84%
China responded to US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs by raising tariffs on American goods to 84%, which became another evidence of the escalation of the trade conflict between the world’s two largest economies.
According to a statement from the country’s government, the Chinese countermeasures will take effect on April 10, Bloomberg reports.
This move by China was a response to Trump’s introduction of additional tariffs on Chinese goods, which came into effect at noon on Wednesday in Beijing. After that, the US imposed tariffs on Chinese goods to 104%.
The day before, the Chinese government announced its intention to “fight to the end” if the US insists on new tariffs.
China also added six US companies to its list of unreliable organizations, and another 12 American companies were added to the export control list.
