China triples imports of Russian wheat

In 11 months of 2024, China imported Russian wheat by $86.5 mln, which is 2.9 times more than in the same period last year (by $29.9 mln). This is reported in the materials of the State Customs Administration (SCA) of the PRC, the Russian Interfax reports.
In November, Russian wheat supplies fell by more than half to $2.3 mln from $5.1 mln in annual terms.
“Nevertheless, Russia managed to retain the third position among the largest suppliers of wheat to the Chinese market after Kazakhstan ($5.8 million) and Canada ($3.2 million). In total, in November, China purchased wheat from five countries,” the report says.
Exports of corn from Russia to China fell by 2.9 times to $28.8 mln in 11 months from $83.6 mln a year earlier. In November, supplies increased to $1.9 mln from $141.8 thsd tonnes in the same month of 2023. Last month, Brazil supplied the biggest amount of corn to China ($48 mln).
