China threatens tough measures against new US tariffs
China is preparing a response to the new US tariffs and is considering revising restrictions on American goods. This could mean adjusting sanctions and duties imposed by Beijing in 2025 at the height of the tariff confrontation, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
In response to the new 10% US tariffs, China announced the start of a comprehensive assessment of the situation. Beijing stressed that it is ready to take resolute countermeasures if necessary to protect the country’s legitimate rights and interests in trade.
“China consistently opposes all forms of unilateral tariff measures and calls on the US to cancel and stop the introduction of any further unilateral tariffs. Practice has repeatedly proven that cooperation between China and the US is beneficial to both sides, while confrontation is harmful to both,” the statement said.
