China gives priority to importing Ukrainian grain over other offers, according to Serhiy Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection. He made this statement during a meeting with representatives of leading agricultural associations and market operators last week, as reported by the press service of the agency.

The meeting discussed interest and current conditions for exporting Ukrainian grain to the European Union, opportunities to increase supplies to African countries, and the expansion of trade with China.

“I met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Shengkun, who asked me to convey China’s gratitude to Ukrainian producers for the high quality of exported corn, soybeans, and barley. Ukrainian agricultural products are always given priority when other offers are available. We are confident that markets for peas, wheat flour, and wheat will soon open in China,” Tkachuk said.

Additionally, Deputy Head of the State Food and Consumer Service and Chief State Phytosanitary Inspector of Ukraine, Vadym Chaikovskyi, reminded participants that, starting February 1, electronic phytosanitary certificates will be exchanged via the Phytosanitary Inspection System (PHIS) using the ePhyto solution. “QR codes will be applied to paper certificates, making forgery impossible and significantly accelerating mandatory border procedures. This issue has been fully resolved at the legislative level, and specialists have undergone training to work with the PHIS system,” Chaikovskyi clarified.

Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
