China increased imports of Russian wheat, but reduced purchases of soybeans and rapeseed

China significantly increased wheat imports from Russia in the first half of 2024, while corn purchases fell sharply, Interfax reports.
China purchased Russian wheat for $38.9 mln against $4.6 mln a year earlier. At the same time, imports of Russian corn decreased to $19.9 million from $54.3 million.
Purchases of cereals also increased. Thus, China’s imports of Russian buckwheat and millet more than doubled to $43.6 mln from $20.8 mln in January-June 2023, and oats – to $28.6 mln from $13.7 mln, respectively.
At the same time, China reduced the imports of Russian soybeans to $196.9 mln in the first half of the year from $346.1 mln in January-June last year.
The purchases of rapeseed also decreased to $68.6 mln from $85.98 mln.
