China has purchased large quantities of corn in Ukraine – traders

Chinese importers have purchased large quantities of feed corn from Ukraine over the past few weeks.
This was reported by traders in Asia and Europe, Reuters reports.
Traders could not give exact volumes, but some said they amounted to several hundred thousand tons. A source in the Ukrainian government also confirmed corn sales to China.
“Importers in China have bought about 10-12 Panamax cargoes of Ukrainian corn for shipment in November/December,” said a Singapore-based trader for an international grain company.
According to the USDA forecasts, the corn harvest in Ukraine in 2023/24 MY will amount to 28 mln tonnes (+0.5 mln tonnes to the previous forecast). The export estimates remained at 19.5 mln tonnes, while the ending stocks could reach 4.43 mln tonnes (+0.54 mln tonnes).
