Canada’s canola exports fall late in season

Canadian wheat and canola exports are slowing towards the end of the season. Statistics Canada data show that the country shipped its lowest canola volume in 11 months in June, at 0.6 million tonnes.
However, total exports for MY 2024/25 were 9.49 million tonnes, up 39.2% from the previous year.
At the same time, shipments to China were down 1 million tonnes, partially offset by higher exports to Japan (+0.4 million tonnes), the EU (+0.3 million tonnes) and the UAE (+0.2 million tonnes).
It was reported yesterday that canola processing in Canada in MY 2024/25 reached a new high of 11.3 million tonnes, up 0.3 million tonnes from the previous season. Industry experts say Canada will continue to increase canola oil production going forward, reducing the supply of available raw materials on global markets.
