Canada raised estimates of wheat and canola harvest
Canadian farmers harvested more wheat and canola than previously forecasted as rains in late summer helped crops recover from drought. This was reported by Statistics Canada.
According to the revised data, wheat production amounted to 32 mln tonnes, which is the second lowest in six years, but more than the September estimate of 29.8 mln tonnes.
The harvest of spring wheat is estimated at 24.8 million tons (September estimate – 22.6 million tons).
Durum wheat production was the second largest in the last 13 years at 4 million tons, but slightly lower than the September forecast.
The canola harvest estimate was raised from 17.4 million tons to 18.3 million tons. However, it is 2% less than last year.
