Bulgaria: sunseed supply and demand balance getting adapted to a tight season
Article author:
Real-time data on the sunseed crop show another adjustment as yield lowered, while the forecast area is fully harvested.
The crop decline will bring sunseed processing (sunflower oil production and sunflower seed dehulling) down (-15% from MY 2019/20) and slash sunseed exports (-31%), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Sunflower seed imports are limited by a crop decrease in all Black Sea countries, though Bulgaria is actively beginning the season in the markets of major sunseed producers.
Domestic sunseed prices remain at their peak levels – they have already gained more than 40% since the beginning of MY 2020/21.
The price fall in the vegetable oil markets will pressure sunseed prices, but a tight global balance of this oilseed will continue to be a bullish factor throughout the season.
