Brazil’s 2025/26 soy crop to grow 3% – AgResource

According to AgResource, Brazil, the world’s largest soybean producer, is expected to harvest 176.5 million metric tons of soybeans in the 2025/26 season, marking a 3% increase from the previous cycle. This growth is driven by expanded planting areas and favorable growing conditions.
The soybean planting area in Brazil for the 2025/26 season is projected to rise by 2%, the slowest growth rate in five years, reaching 48.7 million hectares. Brazilian farmers typically begin sowing soybeans in September, signaling the start of the new agricultural cycle. This indicates steady, albeit moderate, production expansion.
Additionally, AgResource forecasts Brazil’s 2025/26 corn crop at 138.4 million tons, a 0.7% increase from the previous cycle’s estimate. The second corn crop, planted in the same fields after the soybean harvest, is expected to contribute 110.4 million tons, up 2%. The total corn planting area is set to grow by 1.3%, with the second corn crop area increasing by nearly 2%.
These projections highlight the continued growth of Brazil’s agricultural sector, which remains a key player in the global soybean and corn markets. The expansion of planting areas and improvements in farming technologies are expected to support steady production increases in the upcoming season.
