Brazilian agricultural cooperative buys soybean processing plant from Louis Dreyfus
Frísia Cooperativa Agroindustrial, a major Brazilian agricultural cooperative, announced the signing of a contract to acquire a soybean processing plant from Louis Dreyfus Co (LDC), World Grain reports.
The acquired asset is a large industrial complex located on a 58.08-hectare site. Its production capacity is 3,400 tons of soybeans per day. The plant’s infrastructure also includes grain storage facilities with a total capacity of 300,000 tons, production lines, and its own crushing plant.
The plant is focused on the rapidly growing biofuel production sector and the supply of soybean meal for the domestic and export markets, as well as by-products such as lecithin and soybean hulls, which are in demand in the food and animal feed industries.
According to Frísia’s managing director, the acquisition is a key element of the company’s long-term development strategy and a significant step forward for the cooperative movement in Paraná state.
Completion of the transaction is subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), Brazil’s antitrust authority, as well as the transfer of necessary licenses and permits. Frísia expects all procedures to be completed in the second half of 2026.
A key condition for the integration will be the retention of the current staff of the acquired company.
