Brazil. Supply cuts boost domestic corn prices

Brazil recorded a significant increase in corn prices during February, driven by supply constraints due to the low first harvest of the grain in the country, Safras&Mercado reported.
The price of corn increased by an average of 18% during the month, including an 11% increase in the state of Paraná, 6.1% in Mato Grosso, 1.3% in Rio Grande do Sul and 25% in São Paulo.
The country’s agrarians reportedly harvested about 25 million tons of first crop corn in 2025, while carryover corn stocks are estimated at 8 million tons.
“Consumption in the first half of the year should be between 40 and 44 million tons. So there is a supply gap that needs to be filled with second crop corn that will come on the market between June and July. This will attract a lot of attention and create tension in the first half of the year,” commented expert Paulo Molinari.
He also noted that now Brazilian agrarians are paying more attention to soybean harvesting, which is actively conducted in the country, and oilseed marketing, leaving aside corn. This further reduces supply and contributes to price increases
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
