In support of regenerative agricultural practices, Bunge Global SA has entered into an agreement to supply 12,000 tonnes of fully traceable soybean meal to Mantiqueira Brasil, a leading producer and distributor of chicken eggs in South America.

The soybean meal will be sourced from farms implementing sustainable farming practices aimed at improving soil fertility and biological activity, preserving biodiversity, and increasing nutrient content and carbon stocks in the soil profile. Supply chain traceability is ensured using blockchain technology.

Bunge announced the agreement in December as part of the company’s strategic focus on integrating sustainable grain production with customer demands for reduced carbon footprints and increased supply chain transparency. The supplied soybean meal will be used in the production of poultry feed at Mantiqueira’s production facilities.

“In collaboration with our partners, Bunge is consistently expanding its portfolio of climate solutions aimed at reducing emissions along the value chain and promoting sustainable agricultural practices,” noted Pamela Moreira, Chief Sustainability Officer at Bunge.

The company is also implementing a supply chain carbon footprint monitoring and verification system with Mantiqueira, based on a blockchain platform that accumulates data from farm to consumer. Bunge estimates that the carbon footprint of its soybean meal is 40-70% lower than the Brazilian market average, according to recognized industry methodologies, including EcoInvent, Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI), and AgriFootprint.

The company’s benchmark, independently verified, is based on primary farm data collected using digital tools that Bunge provides free of charge to participants in its Regenerative Agriculture Program in Brazil.

As part of the partnership, participating farms also tested the organic fertilizer Solobom, produced from the manure of Mantiqueira Brasil laying hens. The pilot application was conducted on corn crops during the off-season, using approximately 100 tons of the product. Further expansion of the testing to other crops is planned.

Bunge’s Regenerative Agriculture Program currently covers 345,000 hectares of farmland in Brazil. The initiative combines a system of incentives for agricultural producers—including premium payments, technical support, digital solutions, and precision farming tools—with an integrated market model that connects demand from the food and biofuel industries with products produced using regenerative farming principles.

Bunge is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. The world’s largest oilseed processor, it operates more than 100 facilities in Brazil, including processing, refining, packaging, and storage facilities, as well as port infrastructure.

“We view sustainability as a collective journey and continue to identify new opportunities and tools to strengthen regenerative approaches that create added value for all stakeholders,” Moreira emphasized.
