Black Sea grain corridor – ports of Romania and Bulgaria is turning into one of the global grain trading markets – Stefanchuk

The Ukraine – Ports of Romania and Bulgaria corridor is turning into one of the global grain trading markets in the Northwest Black Sea region with a branch to the Danube River. This was stated by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk in his speech at the Conference of Speakers of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region on Tuesday in the Austrian Parliament.

“We are grateful to the European Union for creating the Solidarity Roads, which allow us to export our most important products to the EU and third countries. By the way, the Danube route of the Solidarity Roads remains a key route for Ukrainian agricultural exports,” he said.

Stefanchuk noted that despite Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Ukraine, together with its international partners, primarily the EU, managed to ensure the export of agricultural products via alternative routes.

“Since October last year, a new grain corridor Ukraine-Moldova-Romania has been operating, which also makes a significant contribution to overcoming the consequences of the Russian blockade. We can already talk about the creation of a grain corridor “Ukraine – ports of Romania and Bulgaria”, which is gradually transforming into one of the global grain trading markets in the Northwest Black Sea region with a branch to the Danube River,” Stefanchuk said.

He added that Ukraine is also “intensifying the development of Danube navigation upstream to create new routes for trade and supply of goods between Ukraine and other Danube states.”
